Carrie Brownstein is a writer, musician, and actress. She was a founding member, guitarist, singer and songwriter in the critically acclaimed band Sleater-Kinney, and her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Believer, and Slate. She has contributed essays to several book anthologies, most recently the well-received State By State. She writes a blog called “Monitor Mix” for NPR.com and is an on-air contributor to NPR’s “Day to Day” and “All Songs Considered.”

Carrie is the co-creator (with Fred Armisen) and star of the hit IFC sketch comedy show, Portlandia, and tours regularly with her new band, Wild Flag, whose eponymous debut album was released in 2011 to wide acclaim.

She currently lives in Portland, Oregon.
